Most soil types.

Position

Sun or partial shade. A cooler, shady position in summer.

Frost tolerant

Yes, tolerates mild frosts.

Feeding

Not required.

Companions

Carrot, Turnip, Leek, Cabbage and Viola.

Spacing

Single Plants: 15cm (5") each way (minimum)
Rows: 15cm (5") with 15cm (5") row gap (minimum)

Sow and Plant

Sow direct into the soil from early spring onwards or under cover for an earlier sowing in mid-late winter. Can also sow in early autumn/fall for a winter crop.

Notes

An easy salad crop to grow and will often fit between other plants while they are still small.
